Design Philosophy
Itchiku Kubota’s design philosophy is based around his passion for nature. He focuses on creating a mood and creations that appeal to the eye. In his textile piece “Incandescence” created in 1981, they sky is a wonderful orange colour and the clouds are thin bands of lavender. However, in another kimono of his called “Twilight on the Lake” created in 1981, colours lighten across both clouds and the pictured scene; greens and greys are dominant. Not just in these two kimonos has Kuboto concentrated on the colours based around nature but in all of his artworks. The way his chosen colours are so affective but the way the surfaces shimmer and how he has expressed light the way he perceived it.

In his passion for colours in nature in his design he also concentrates on the evolution of the seasons in his works. In most of his kimono’s he shows the different seasons, portraying them in different colours, making us feel different emotions whilst viewing his pecies. This is all due to his love and passion for nature and what nature can offer us. |
